Bryant was elected the first African American class president at the West Point, where he served as a Cadet from 1984–86. Bryant graduated from Trinity College in Connecticut, where he also became the first African American to be elected class president and was voted an All-American defenseman for Trinity’s Championship hockey team. In 1990, Bryant completed his schooling by obtaining a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. He serves on the boards of directors of the New York City Track and Field Armory and the New York Road Runners Club – the biggest running club in the world and organizers of the New York City Marathon. He also serves as Chairman of USA Fitness Corps, an initiative that selects returning veterans to serve as Fitness Corps Leaders in US Cities with a prevalence of childhood obesity. Bryant also serves as youth hockey coach to his three children, has started 24 marathons and has completed them all.
